rámující

Rámující is a Czech adjective formed from the verb rámovat (to frame). It denotes something that provides a frame or boundary or that shapes a context for something else. The form is the present active participle, used to describe objects, statements, or processes that set the frame.

In linguistics, media studies, and qualitative research, rámující is used to describe framing devices or frames of interpretation. Phrases such as rámující kontext or rámující diskurz refer to the contextual frame within which a text, event, or phenomenon is understood. It is often contrasted with the content itself because framing influences perception and meaning.

In photography, design, and architecture, rámující elements are elements that surround or enclose the subject, creating a visual frame. A rámující kompozice employs lines or shapes that guide the viewer’s attention to the focal point and define spatial relationships.

Although closely related to rámovat and rámec, rámující emphasizes the active act of framing, not merely the frame itself. It is common in technical writing and descriptive prose; context determines whether it is used literally (a physical frame) or figuratively (a contextual frame).
