Ryhmäoikeuksia, often translated as group permissions or group rights, refers to a system in computing where access to resources like files, folders, or system functionalities is granted based on membership in a specific group. Instead of assigning permissions to individual users one by one, administrators can create groups and assign them permissions. Users are then added to these groups, inheriting the permissions granted to the group.

This approach simplifies access management, especially in environments with many users and resources. For instance, a "Developers" group might have read and write access to a project's source code repository, while a "Testers" group might only have read access. Similarly, an "Administrators" group could have elevated privileges for managing the system.

The concept of group permissions is a fundamental aspect of operating system security and network administration. It allows for efficient organization of access control policies, reducing the administrative overhead of managing individual user rights.
