The presence of rundspermatider can negatively impact male fertility. The elongated tail is crucial for sperm motility, allowing them to swim through the female reproductive tract to reach and fertilize an egg. Sperm with round heads typically lack the necessary tail structure, rendering them immotile and unable to achieve fertilization on their own.
