This system is a critical part of modern fuel injection technology, replacing older carburetor systems. The primary function of a ruiskuppuja is to atomize fuel and inject it directly into the engine's cylinders or intake manifold in a precisely controlled manner.

The main components of a ruiskuppuja include the fuel pump, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, and the electronic control unit (ECU). The fuel pump, often an electric unit located within the fuel tank, draws fuel and pressurizes it. This pressurized fuel then travels through the fuel lines to the injectors. Each fuel injector is an electronically controlled valve that opens and closes rapidly, spraying a fine mist of fuel. The fuel pressure regulator maintains a consistent pressure within the system, ensuring optimal fuel delivery. A fuel filter is essential to remove any contaminants that could clog the injectors.
