rovnica

Rovnica is a term used in several Slavic languages to denote an equation in mathematics. An rovnica expresses that two expressions are equal, and its validity depends on choosing values for the unknowns that appear in those expressions. The set of all such values is called the solution set of the rovnica.

Rovnice come in many forms. A linear rovnica has the unknowns appearing to the first power and can be written in the form a1 x1 + a2 x2 + ... + an xn = b. Polynomial rovnice involve terms with higher powers of the unknowns, such as x^2 − 4 = 0, which yields solutions x = −2 and x = 2. Other common types include rational rovnice, exponential rovnice, and trigonometric rovnice. A system of rovnic consists of two or more rovnic that are solved simultaneously for a common set of unknowns.

Solving methods vary with the type of rovnica. Algebraic techniques include isolating the unknown, factoring, or applying substitutions and eliminations in systems. Linear systems are often solved by matrix methods such as Gaussian elimination or by Cramer’s rule when applicable. Numerical methods may be used for more complex or non-analytic rovnice. Graphically, a rovnica corresponds to the intersection points of the graphs of the two sides of the equation.

Rovnice have wide applications in science, engineering, economics, and everyday problem solving, providing a formal way to express and analyze conditions of equality.
