Rotaatioon is a term used to describe the act or result of turning around an axis or center, or more broadly the cyclic change of states. In mathematics and physics, rotations are transformations that preserve distances and angles. In two dimensions, a rotation by angle θ about a fixed point maps each point to a new location on a circle with the same distance from the center. In three dimensions, rotations can be represented by matrices, Euler angles, axis–angle representations, or quaternions, and they form the group SO(3).

Applications of rotatioon concepts appear in computer graphics, robotics, navigation, astronomy, and structural engineering, where orientation and angular motion are central. In computer graphics, rotations determine how objects are displayed from different viewpoints. In robotics, accurate rotational models are essential for arm articulation and pose estimation.
