The primary symptoms of rinokonjunktiitti include itchy, watery, and red eyes, along with sneezing, nasal congestion, and a runny nose. These symptoms are typically triggered by exposure to allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, or mold spores. The allergic reaction involves the release of histamine and other inflammatory mediators, leading to the characteristic signs of irritation and inflammation.

Diagnosis of rinokonjunktiitti is usually based on a patient's medical history and a physical examination. Allergy testing, such as skin prick tests or blood tests, can help identify specific allergens. Treatment aims to alleviate symptoms and prevent future reactions. This may include avoiding known allergens, using over-the-counter or prescription antihistamines, decongestants, and eye drops.
