resolverne

Resolverne is the plural form of the noun resolver in Danish and Norwegian, commonly used to refer to DNS resolvers—components in computer networks responsible for translating human-friendly domain names into IP addresses. In Danish and Norwegian technical literature the term resolverne is used, though the English term DNS resolvers is also common in international contexts.

A DNS resolver takes a domain name query, consults a cache if possible, and if not found, performs a recursive or iterative resolution by querying a hierarchy of servers starting at the root, top-level domain servers, and authoritative name servers until it returns an IP address to the client. Recursive resolvers perform the complete lookup, caching results to satisfy future requests. Forwarders may defer queries to another resolver.

In practice, resolverne are deployed in the infrastructure of Internet service providers, workplaces, and on devices, where operating systems and browsers implement local resolvers. They differ in performance, privacy policy, and whether they enforce security features such as DNSSEC validation or support encrypted transport like DNS-over-HTTPS or DNS-over-TLS.
