resistiiviseen

Resistiivinen is a Finnish adjective meaning resistive, relating to electrical resistance. It is used in physics and electrical engineering to describe materials, devices, or loads whose electrical behavior is dominated by resistance rather than capacitive or inductive effects. A resistive component typically follows Ohm’s law, V = IR, and dissipates power as heat. In discussions of circuits, a resistive load is one that is primarily ohmic, with current and voltage in phase.

Resistiivinen can appear in various noun phrases describing behavior or properties. The illative singular form resistiiviseen is used when indicating movement toward or into a resistive state or direction in a sentence, for example in phrases such as resistiiviseen kuormitukseen (into a resistive load) or resistiiviseen vastukseen (into a resistive resistor). Finnish grammar often attaches such illative forms to adjectives that modify a noun in the illative case.

In technical Finnish writing, resistiivinen is contrasted with other terms describing non-resistive behavior, such as kapasitivinen (capacitive) and induktiivinen (inductive). The concept corresponds to the English term resistive or ohmic, and is common in circuit analysis, power systems, and electronic design.
