Replicabiliteettia, the Finnish term for replicability, refers to the ability of an experiment, study, or observation to be repeated with consistent results under the same conditions. It is a cornerstone of the scientific method, providing a check against erroneous findings, random chance, or bias. Replication can be categorized into direct replication, where the original methods are exactly reproduced, and conceptual replication, in which the same hypothesis is tested using different procedures or materials. Both types serve distinct purposes: direct replication verifies the robustness of the original data, while conceptual replication explores the generality of findings across contexts.

Ensuring replicabiliteettia requires transparent reporting of materials, protocols, and analytic code. Open data practices allow independent investigators to access raw datasets, facilitating reanalysis. Pre-registration of study designs further reduces the risk of selective reporting. Journals increasingly require detailed methods sections and the submission of supplementary materials. Funding bodies are also placing greater emphasis on replication projects, recognizing their role in consolidating scientific knowledge.
