renseanlægget

Renseanlægget is a NATO missile launch site located in Farsund, Norway. It is one of several ballistic missile launch sites in the country. Construction on the site began in 1960, and it entered operational status in 1965. The area served as a base for RAF Bomber Command during World War II.

Renseanlægget is positioned on a small headland overlooking the North Sea. The launch site is armed with the Hyugo medium-range F-2 air-to-ground missile system, but has been upgraded to host the FGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missile, a lethal anti-ship and land weapon system. Designed as a general purpose tool, Tomahawk cruise missiles have the capability of dispensing both high explosives and penetration bombs.

Despite its advanced technology, Renseanlægget remains an operational site that is part of Norway's defense strategy to deter potential threats from its neighbors. The production, possession, and testing of military-grade guided missiles at the launch site are under International Law weapons monitoring.
