Methods to identify relateds include lexical similarity measures (such as embeddings and cosine similarity), co-occurrence statistics, explicit relational data, and user behavior signals. Relatedness is often context-dependent and can vary across domains, requiring careful validation and updating over time.

Applications include search and recommendation systems, where relateds help surface relevant content; content organization, where relateds aid navigation; and knowledge management, where relateds support reasoning across linked concepts.
