Radoninpoisto is the Finnish term for radon removal or radon abatement, referring to the methods and practices used to reduce the concentration of radon gas in indoor environments. Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that originates from the natural decay of uranium in soil, rock, and water. It can accumulate in buildings, especially those with basements or foundations close to the ground, and prolonged exposure to elevated radon levels has been linked to an increased risk of lung cancer. Because of this health risk, radon mitigation has become an important public health measure in many countries, including Finland.

In Finland, radon risk assessment is typically carried out during construction or renovation projects, with measurements taken using calibrated detectors such as charcoal canisters, alpha-track detectors, or continuous radon monitors. If the radon concentration exceeds the recommended action level—usually set at 200 becquerels per cubic meter (Bq/m³) by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare—radon abatement techniques are implemented. Common radon removal methods include sub-slab depressurization, where a pipe is installed beneath the foundation to vent radon to the outside, and active soil depressurization, which reduces the pressure differential that pushes radon into the building.
