Queloids is a term that has been used historically to refer to certain types of keloid scars. Keloids are benign fibroblastic tumors that arise from the skin and are characterized by excessive collagen production. They are an abnormal healing response to skin injury, which can include cuts, burns, insect bites, acne, or even surgical incisions. Unlike normal scars, keloids grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound. They can be itchy, tender, and sometimes painful.
