Similarly, when a new node is added, it might take over a portion of the responsibilities from a predecessor. The "persistence" aspect implies that these partitions are not completely dissolved and reformed from scratch with every change, but rather that a core allocation remains tied to a logical or physical location on the ring until specific conditions dictate otherwise.
