Põlemisvorm refers to the specific shape or configuration that a flame takes during combustion. This form is influenced by a variety of factors, including the fuel source, the availability of oxygen, the geometry of the combustion chamber, and external forces like gravity or airflow. In its most basic form, a flame often appears as a teardrop or cone shape, with the hottest part typically located just above the visible luminous yellow portion.

The shape of a flame is directly related to the diffusion of fuel vapor and oxygen into the reaction zone, and the subsequent expansion of hot combustion products. In the presence of gravity, hotter, less dense gases rise, contributing to the characteristic upward elongation of a flame. This is why a candle flame burns upwards. In microgravity environments, however, flames tend to be spherical because convection currents are absent, and the diffusion of reactants and products occurs radially.

Different types of combustion, such as diffusion flames and premixed flames, also exhibit distinct shapes. Diffusion flames, where fuel and oxidizer mix as they burn, often have a more diffuse and less distinct shape. Premixed flames, where fuel and oxidizer are mixed before ignition, can be more stable and have a clearer, more defined shape, often appearing as a flat sheet or a Bunsen burner cone.
