Päänsärky is the Finnish word for headache. Headaches are a common medical condition characterized by pain in any region of the head. Cluster headaches are a less common but extremely painful type of headache. They occur in cyclical patterns or clusters and are characterized by severe, burning, or piercing pain, usually around one eye. These headaches can last for weeks or months, followed by pain-free periods.

Other types of headaches include sinus headaches, which are associated with sinus infections, and medication-overuse headaches, which can develop from the regular use of pain relievers. Diagnosis of a specific headache type usually involves a review of symptoms, medical history, and sometimes imaging tests. Treatment varies depending on the type and cause, and can include lifestyle changes, over-the-counter or prescription medications, and alternative therapies.
