Pseudotachylytes are an important geological feature found in fault zones. They are defined as the solidified products of frictional melting along faults. This melting occurs during seismic events, such as earthquakes, when the rapid movement of rock masses generates intense heat. The molten rock, or pseudotachylyte magma, is then injected into surrounding fractured rock, or it may erupt as a thin layer along the fault surface. Upon cooling and solidification, it forms a glassy or fine-grained rock.
