Diagnosis of proteinuria typically involves a urine test, such as a urinalysis or a urine protein-to-creatinine ratio. If proteinuria is detected, further investigations may be necessary to determine the cause and extent of kidney damage. Treatment focuses on managing the underlying condition contributing to the proteinuria, which may include medication to control blood pressure, blood sugar, or inflammation, as well as lifestyle modifications. Early detection and management of proteinuria are crucial to prevent further kidney damage and preserve kidney function.
