Proteggevo is a coined term used to describe a holistic framework for protecting digital and physical assets through integrated policy, technology, and practice. The concept is not standardized and appears mainly in speculative writing, privacy and security discussions, and some policy experiments.

The term combines elements of protect and governance, with "-gevo" serving as a suffix to suggest a system or approach. There is no widely accepted formal definition, and the scope varies by user.

Common interpretations identify four core pillars: governance and rights management (clear data ownership and consent), technical safeguards (encryption, access control, secure storage), risk management and incident response, and transparency and user empowerment (auditable processes, explainability).

In practice, proteggevo is used as a thought experiment to explore trade-offs between privacy, usability, and security. It has appeared in Italian-language forums and some fictional or hypothetical case studies; it is not an established standard or regulatory framework. Some scholars compare it to existing concepts such as privacy-by-design and security-by-design, noting that proteggevo emphasizes holistic, end-to-end protection across layers.
