Prosessoriytimen is the basic processing unit within a CPU that can execute instructions independently. A contemporary processor may contain multiple cores, enabling parallel execution of tasks. Each core includes an arithmetic logic unit, registers, a control unit, and its own caches (typically L1 for data and instructions, plus an L2 cache; many designs also provide an L3 cache shared among cores).

Core microarchitecture supports features such as instruction pipelines, out-of-order execution, branch prediction, and speculative execution to increase instruction throughput.
