Propulsia is a term used in speculative discussions of propulsion to denote a family of approaches intended to move vehicles by means other than ejecting reaction mass. The word is not tied to a single theory and its usage varies by author. In some narratives, propulsia refers to propulsion achieved by manipulating momentum through interactions with fields, spacetime, or quantum vacuum phenomena, potentially reducing or eliminating the need to carry propellant.
