Promenáda is a public pedestrian walkway designed for walking, leisure, and sightseeing, typically along a waterfront, park, or urban route. The term comes from the French promenade and in Czech and Slovak usage denotes a linear outdoor space intended for strolling and social activity rather than for transit. Promenády are usually car-free or have restricted vehicle access, encouraging pedestrians, cyclists, and other non-motorized users.

Common features include wide paved or timber surfaces, benches, shade trees, lighting, low barriers, and views of the surrounding landscape, water, or city skyline. Some promenády incorporate cafés, kiosks, fountains, or sculptures. They may be part of longer park networks or waterfront redevelopments and can serve tourism, recreation, or daily exercise. Variants include a waterfront promenade along a river, lake, or coast, or a park promenade inside a city park.

Urban planning and use: Promenády contribute to public space, support local economies through tourism, and enhance quality of life. Differences and context: A promenade is typically oriented toward leisurely walking and viewing, while esplanáda refers to a broad, open terrace or open space often along the edge of a city, and boardwalks describe wooden promenády along the shore. The concept has historical roots in 18th–19th century Europe and remains a common element in waterfront and park development worldwide.
