PrePowerStroke refers to the period and the diesel engines manufactured by Ford Motor Company prior to the introduction of their Power Stroke brand of diesel engines. This era primarily encompasses Ford's use of Navistar International (formerly International Harvester) designed diesel engines. The most prominent of these were the 7.3L naturally aspirated diesel, often referred to as the "IDI" (Indirect Injection), and its turbocharged variant.
