Pradesha is a term found in some Indian philosophical and religious traditions, notably within Jainism. It broadly refers to the direction or orientation of a particular thing or action. In Jainism, the concept of pradesha is significant in understanding the nature of substance (dravya) and its attributes (guna). It is believed that a substance possesses an infinite number of pradeshas, which are like its constituent units or points of existence.

These pradeshas are not physical in the way we understand atoms, but rather conceptual extensions of a substance's essence. The number of pradeshas occupied by a substance is a measure of its spatial extent or its presence within the universe. For instance, a very small particle would occupy fewer pradeshas than a large object. The interaction and relationship between different substances are also understood through the concept of pradeshas. When substances come into contact or influence each other, it is through the arrangement and interplay of their respective pradeshas.

In some contexts, pradesha can also be used in a more general sense to mean region or territory, particularly in ancient Indian geography or administrative divisions.
