Ponadtlenkowa is a Polish adjective used to describe things related to peroxide or superoxide species. It appears in chemical, biological and industrial contexts to denote compounds, processes or properties connected with peroxide groups or with reactive oxygen species derived from them.

In chemistry, a peroxide (ponadtlenek) is a compound that contains an O–O single bond. The most common example is ponadtlenek wodoru, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), a strong oxidizing agent used for bleaching, disinfection and various organic syntheses. Organic peroxides also contain the ponadtlenkowy (peroxide) group and are widely used as radical initiators in polymerization and in other reactions.

In biology, ponadtlenkowe species refer to reactive oxygen species. The superoxide anion (jon ponadtlenkowy, O2−) and hydrogen peroxide (ponadtlenek wodoru) are produced during cellular metabolism and immune responses. These species can play roles in signaling at controlled levels, but oxidative stress occurs when their concentrations rise excessively, potentially damaging lipids, proteins and DNA.

Safety and handling considerations apply to peroxides in general. Concentrated hydrogen peroxide is caustic and a strong oxidizer, and mixtures with organic materials can be explosive. In Polish scientific and technical literature, ponadtlenkowa terms are common in descriptions of reactions, mechanisms and detoxification pathways related to peroxide chemistry and reactive oxygen species.
