poloxalene
Poloxalene is a veterinary anti-foaming agent used to prevent and treat frothy bloat in cattle and other ruminants. It is a non-ionic surfactant composed of block copolymers of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide (polyoxyethylene–polyoxypropylene). By lowering surface tension at the ruminal gas–liquid interface, poloxalene destabilizes stable foams and promotes gas escape, reducing the risk of life-threatening bloat on lush pastures.
Poloxalene is typically included in feed or supplied as a drench or paste, and is administered orally
Regulatory status and safety: Poloxalene is approved as an anti-foaming feed additive in many countries, including
