Politruk is a military political officer term used in the Soviet Union and other socialist states to describe a person responsible for political work within a military unit. The word is a contraction of politicheskiy rukovoditel (political leader) and is usually transliterated as politruk. The role combined elements of political education, morale management, and party loyalty oversight alongside ordinary military duties.
