polinális

Polinális is an adjective used in Hungarian to describe something relating to polynomials. The term derives from the word polinom, with the suffix -ális indicating characteristic or pertaining to. In mathematical contexts, polinális often appears as part of phrases such as polinális kifejezés or polinális függvény.

In mathematics, a polinális függvény, or polynomial function, is a function that can be written as a finite sum of terms a_k x^k, where the a_k are constants from a given field (such as the real or complex numbers) and k is a nonnegative integer. Multivariable polinális functions have the form f(x1, ..., xn) = sum over multi-indices of a_alpha x1^{alpha1}... xn^{alphan}. The degree of a polinális is the largest exponent with a nonzero coefficient; the leading coefficient is the coefficient of that term.

Polinálisek form a ring under addition and multiplication, and they are closed under differentiation, with derivatives that are again polinális functions. The zeros of polynomials and their factorization into linear or irreducible factors are central topics in algebra, with many methods for finding roots depending on the coefficients and the underlying field.
