Polgároké is a Hungarian word that translates to "people's language" or "common language". It was a term used in the early 20th century to describe the everyday language spoken by ordinary people in Hungary.

During the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the official language of communication was a formal, standardized Hungarian language, which was heavily influenced by the Austrian dialect. However, the language spoken by the common people, particularly in the countryside, was a simpler and more colloquial variant. This variant was what came to be known as polgároké.
