pintakohdasta

Pintakohdasta is a Finnish term for the point at which two surfaces meet or touch. In technical contexts it also refers to the location on a single surface that is in contact with another object. The concept is used across geometry, physics, engineering and metrology to describe where contact occurs and how forces are transmitted.

In geometry and differential geometry, the pintakohdasta is the contact point of curves or surfaces. If two curves are tangent, they share a common tangent at the contact point; for curved surfaces the order of contact describes how closely the surfaces align near that point.

In mechanics and tribology, the pintakohdasta is central to understanding load transmission, friction and wear.
