Piacerebbe is the present conditional form of the Italian verb piacere, meaning “to be pleasing” or “to like.” In usage, it expresses a desire, a preference, or a polite request. The subject of piacere is the thing that pleases, while the person who experiences the pleasure is expressed with an indirect object pronoun (mi, ti, gli, ci, vi, loro).

Common uses include expressing a wish or preference in a softer way than a direct statement. For example, Mi piacerebbe andare al mare means “I would like to go to the sea.” Ti piacerebbe venire con noi? translates as “Would you like to come with us?” and Ci piacerebbe provare quel ristorante means “We would like to try that restaurant.” When the thing that would please is plural, the verb agrees in number: Mi piacerebbero quei vestiti (“Those clothes would please me” or “I would like those clothes.”)
