Phloemból is a term used in certain contexts, particularly in older botanical literature or specific regional dialects, to refer to a blockage or obstruction within the phloem tissue of plants. The phloem is the vascular tissue responsible for transporting sugars produced during photosynthesis from the leaves to other parts of the plant where they are needed for growth or storage. When phloemból occurs, this transport system is compromised.

The causes of phloemból can be varied. It may result from physical damage to the plant, such as that caused by insect feeding, mechanical injury, or the development of galls. Pathogens, including certain fungi or bacteria, can also induce cellular changes that lead to phloem obstruction. In some cases, environmental stress or the accumulation of certain metabolic byproducts within the phloem cells themselves might contribute to the condition.

Symptoms associated with phloemból depend on the severity and location of the blockage. If the phloem is significantly impaired, affected parts of the plant may exhibit reduced growth, yellowing of leaves (chlorosis), or premature leaf drop, as sugars are unable to reach these tissues. In severe cases, entire branches or even the whole plant can be affected. Diagnosis often involves microscopic examination of plant tissues to identify the nature of the obstruction within the phloem.
