Perekõrguse is a small rural settlement located in northern Estonia, within the administrative boundaries of Jõgeva Parish in Jõgeva County. The village sits at an elevation of approximately 90 metres above sea level and is surrounded by mixed forest and open farmland. The nearest larger town is Jõgeva, roughly 15 kilometres to the south, while the capital city Tallinn lies about 70 kilometres to the west.

The first documentary mention of Perekõrguse dates back to the mid‑17th century, when it was recorded as a small estate belonging to the local manor of Lõve. Over the centuries the population fluctuated with the agricultural reforms and industrialization waves that swept Estonia. In the 19th century it was part of the Russian Empire's larger administrative structures, and after Estonia’s declaration of independence in 1918 the village was incorporated into the new national administrative framework. During the Soviet era, Perekõrguse became part of a collective farm system (kolkhoz) focused on barley and rye production.

Today Perekõrguse remains a sparsely populated community, its residents largely engaged in farming, forestry, and commuting to nearby towns for employment. A modest chapel, dating from the early 20th century, stands at the centre of the village and serves as a local landmark. Seasonal forestry tours and cycling routes draw occasional visitors, providing modest tourism to the area. The village holds no major industrial or commercial enterprises but maintains its traditional rural character within Estonia’s evolving countryside.
