Pendulumteszt is a Hungarian term for an experimental procedure that uses a pendulum to provoke and measure a response in a system. It refers to a family of methods rather than a single standardized test, and it appears in contexts such as physics, materials testing, engineering, and medicine.

In materials testing, pendulum tests are used to determine impact resistance and toughness. The best-known variants are pendulum impact tests such as the Charpy and Izod methods, in which a swinging hammer strikes a notched specimen and the energy absorbed during fracture is calculated from the hammer’s loss of energy. These tests are described by international standards and are used to compare materials and qualify production lots.

In biomechanics and clinical settings, pendulum-like swings are used to assess neuromuscular tone or spasticity. A limb may be allowed to swing as a pendulum, and measurements of damping and swing characteristics provide information about impedance and motor control in some patients.

In educational and research contexts, simple pendulum tests are used to determine parameters such as period, gravitational acceleration, damping, and stiffness in mechanical systems. Equipment generally includes a pivot point, a pendulum arm or bob, and sensors to measure angle, velocity, or force, plus data acquisition software.
