Pehlívání is a traditional wrestling style originating from Turkey. Its name derives from the Persian word "pahlavān," meaning hero or champion. This form of wrestling emphasizes strength, skill, and a unique set of rituals and techniques.

The practice of pehlívání dates back centuries, with roots in ancient Anatolian and Persian wrestling traditions. Historically, it was a significant part of cultural festivals and celebrations, often held outdoors. The wrestlers, known as pehlivans, train rigorously and adhere to a code of conduct that includes respect for opponents and elders.
