Peegeldajate is the Estonian term used to describe reflectors, devices or systems that reflect light, sound, or electromagnetic waves. The singular peegeldaja means "reflector" or "one who reflects," formed from peegel (mirror) and the agent suffix -daja; peegeldajate is the genitive plural form, used when referring to a group or type of reflectors in descriptions or classifications.

Reflectors occur in many forms and serve a variety of purposes. In optics, planar and curved mirrors (peegelveed) redirect light for imaging, illumination, and measurement. In telecommunications and radar, parabolic and dish-shaped peegeldajad focus radio waves onto receivers to increase signal strength and directional gain. Retroreflectors, such as corner-cube devices, return light or signals toward their source with minimal scattering, a property exploited in road safety equipment, surveying, and nighttime visibility.

Material choice and geometry are key to reflector performance. The reflectivity, wavelength range, and surface quality of a peegeldaja depend on coatings (for example dielectric or metallic layers), substrate material, and precise shaping. In practical design, engineers balance factors such as size, weight, durability, and environmental exposure to achieve the desired reflective behavior across intended applications.
