paravertebrallinen
Paravertebrallinen is a Finnish adjective that means “related to the paravertebral region” or “paravertebral.” In anatomical terminology the paravertebral area refers to the space and structures located beside the vertebral column, extending from the skull base to the sacrum. It includes the paravertebral muscles, such as the erector spinae, the quadratus lumborum and the multifidus, as well as the paravertebral fascia that surrounds these muscles. The paravertebral space contains the sympathetic chain, the thoracic spinal nerves, periosteal blood vessels, and pieces of the intervertebral discs. Because of this rich anatomical network, the paravertebral region plays an important role in spinal stability, movement, and pain transmission.
In clinical medicine the term paravertebrallinen is frequently applied to interventions that target this region. Paravertebral
