Panelové refers to a method and the resulting buildings of mass housing constructed from prefabricated concrete panels, a hallmark of socialist-era urban development in Central and Eastern Europe. In the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and other former communist countries, this approach—often called panelová výstavba or panelové domy—was introduced in the 1950s and expanded rapidly during the 1960s–1980s to address housing shortages and urban growth.
