Palpebrales refers to anything pertaining to the eyelids. The eyelids, or palpebrae, are movable folds of skin and muscle that protect and lubricate the eyeball. They consist of an upper eyelid (palpebra superior) and a lower eyelid (palpebra inferior). The edges of the eyelids are lined with eyelashes, which help to filter out debris.

Several muscles control eyelid movement. The orbicularis oculi muscle is responsible for closing the eyelid, while the levator palpebrae superioris muscle lifts the upper eyelid. The palpebral fissure is the opening between the two eyelids.

Conditions affecting the palpebrales can range from minor irritations to more significant medical issues. Common eyelid problems include styes (infections of an eyelash follicle), chalazia (blockages of oil glands in the eyelid), and blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid margins). More serious conditions can involve tumors or damage to the eyelid structure. Medical professionals often use the term "palpebral" when discussing aspects of the eyelids, such as palpebral conjunctivitis (inflammation of the conjunctiva lining the eyelid) or palpebral edema (swelling of the eyelid).
