Designers use testing standards such as ISTA and EN/ASTM guidelines to validate performance and compatibility with handling equipment.

Sustainability considerations emphasize reducing material use, reusability, recyclability, and compostability where feasible. End-of-life outcomes are influenced by local waste streams and regulations. Recyclability varies by material and region; labeling, separation, and consumer participation are crucial. Life cycle assessments help compare options for energy, water use, and emissions.

Packing materials are used across industries, from e-commerce and consumer electronics to food and pharmaceuticals, with material choices balancing protection, cost, weight, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact.
