A packedtray is a tray-based packaging format designed to hold, protect, and transport a defined set of items in a compact, secure arrangement. It is used across industries to reduce movement during transit and to facilitate handling by automated systems. Packedtrays may be single-use or reusable and are selected to align with product dimensions, weight, and required protection.

Typical packedtrays are made from corrugated fiberboard, molded plastics (such as PET or PP), or molded pulp. They may include fixed compartments, removable dividers, anti-slip surfaces, handles, vents for airflow, and features that deter tampering. For electronics or sterile products, antistatic sleeves or foam inserts may be used. In food applications, trays may be insulated or food-grade and designed for cold storage.

Packedtrays are used in manufacturing lines for component assembly, in distribution centers for bulk-to-SKU packing, and in retail packaging for ready-to-display products. They support automated picking and sorting, as trays can be nested or stackable and compatible with robotic grippers and conveyors. The term may appear in procurement or packaging specifications as a standard format for a given product family.

Advantages include space efficiency, protection from damage, reduced packaging waste when using reusable trays, and ease of handling. Limitations involve material costs, weight, environmental impact, and the need for product-specific compartments. Regulatory requirements for food, pharma, or electronics may constrain materials and design. Some organizations are moving toward modular, reusable systems to improve sustainability.
