overstreek

Overstreek is a Dutch term used in geography and historical writing to describe the region situated beyond a boundary or reference point from the observer’s position. The word combines over- meaning across or beyond with streek meaning region or area. In practice, an overstreek refers to the part of a territory that lies beyond a boundary such as a river, a border, or another geographic divider relative to a specified reference location.

The term is informal rather than an official administrative designation. Its exact scope depends on the context
