Organizavimas is the process of arranging resources, tasks, and relationships to achieve predefined goals within an organization. In management, it is one of the core functions, alongside planning, directing, and controlling. The term is widely used in Lithuanian business and public administration to describe the design of an organization’s structure and the coordination mechanisms that connect its components.

Key elements of organizavimas include the division of labor, the allocation of authority and responsibility, the establishment of reporting relationships, and the selection of processes and systems for coordination. Organizing also involves designing roles, teams or departments, deciding on the span of control, and determining the level of formality and standardization.

The organizing process typically follows identifying objectives, mapping required activities, grouping activities into units or teams, assigning tasks, delegating authority, and providing resources. Implementation is followed by monitoring and adjustments to structures in response to changes in strategy, technology, or environment.

Common organizational structures include functional, divisional, and matrix designs, while modern practices emphasize flexibility, project-based teams, and networked or flat structures. In the digital era, organizing often addresses remote or distributed work, agile methodologies, and new forms of governance such as holacracy.

Organizavimas is not purely technical; it interacts with culture and leadership. Overemphasis on formal structures can hinder adaptability, and misalignment between structure and strategy can reduce performance. The concept has historical roots in classical management theory, notably Henri Fayol, but remains dynamic as organizations seek to balance control with adaptability.
