Opening hours, also referred to as hours of operation or business hours, are the times during which an establishment is open to the public. They indicate when customers may access goods or services and when staff are available to assist. Hours are set by management and can reflect customer demand, staffing levels, local regulations, and seasonal factors.

Hours vary widely by type of venue and region. Some places operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while others have shorter or more limited timeframes. A common pattern is a weekday schedule (for example, 9:00 to 17:00) with different hours on weekends, holidays, or during special events. Seasonal hours may apply, with longer or shorter openings during holidays, summer, or school vacations. In addition, individual days may be marked as “Open,” “Closed,” or show specific hours.

Communication of opening hours is typically through signage at the entrance, the business’s website, online maps, or social media. Standard formatting often lists days of the week followed by time ranges, such as Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00; Sat 10:00–14:00; Sun Closed. Some venues also publish last-entry times or break periods (for example, lunch closures). It is advisable to verify hours in advance, as closures or changes can occur without notice.
