Odplavování, often translated as leaching or flushing, refers to the process by which soluble substances are dissolved and transported away by a liquid, most commonly water. This phenomenon plays a significant role in various natural and industrial contexts. In geology, odplavování is a key component of erosion, where rainwater or surface runoff dissolves and carries away minerals and particles from rocks and soil. This gradual removal can alter landscapes over geological timescales, forming features like canyons and karst topography.

In agriculture, odplavování can be detrimental. Excessive irrigation or rainfall can leach essential nutrients from the soil, making them unavailable to plants and reducing crop yields.
