Obetonad is a term used in the construction industry, primarily in Polish, to describe a surface, layer, or structure that has been covered with concrete or built from concrete. It denotes elements that are concrete or are reinforced and protected by a concrete coating, as opposed to being made from other materials.

In practice, obetonad can refer to a variety of applications. It includes pouring concrete in place on formwork to create monolithic elements such as floors, walls, foundations, and bridge decks; overlaying an existing structure with a concrete layer; and assembling precast concrete components that form a continuous concrete body when joined. Reinforcement, typically in the form of rebar or fibers, may be used within obetonad constructions to improve tensile strength and crack resistance. The technique chosen depends on structural requirements, site conditions, and desired durability.

Common uses include building foundations and slabs, pavements and road surfaces, retaining walls, and structural elements in bridges and parking structures. The process requires proper formwork, controlled placement, and curing to minimize shrinkage cracks and ensure adequate strength.

Advantages of obetonad include high compressive strength, durability, weather resistance, and the ability to mold or conform to complex geometries. Limitations include the heavy weight of concrete, the need for formwork and skilled labor, longer curing times, potential cracking due to temperature and shrinkage, and environmental considerations related to cement production.
