Some people with nystagmus may develop a head tilt to help them see more clearly, a phenomenon known as a null point.

Diagnosis of nystagmus typically involves a comprehensive eye examination and a neurological assessment. Treatment depends on the underlying cause and may include corrective lenses or prisms to improve vision, vision therapy to enhance eye control, or medication for related conditions. In some cases, surgery may be considered to reduce the severity of the eye movements and improve visual function. While nystagmus cannot always be cured, management strategies can help individuals optimize their vision and quality of life.
