Nternetin is a term used in speculative technology discourse to describe a proposed reimagining of global digital connectivity. Proponents imagine a more modular, privacy-focused, and user-controlled architecture than today’s Internet, built on decentralization and interoperable standards.

The origins of the term are not well defined. It appears in online writings and discussions from the early 2020s, sometimes as a portmanteau of network and inner or internet, sometimes as the name of a research project or prototype platform.

Concepts commonly associated with nternetin include end-to-end encryption by default, programmable networks, and data sovereignty that gives users or communities governance over personal data. Advocates emphasize open standards, interoperability across devices, and resilience through decentralized or mesh networking.
