Normozytäre is a term used in hematology to describe red blood cells that have a normal volume. This measurement is determined by the mean corpuscular volume (MCV), a laboratory value that indicates the average size of red blood cells in a blood sample. When MCV falls within the normal reference range, the red blood cells are considered normozytäre.

The MCV reference range can vary slightly between laboratories, but it typically falls between 80 and 100 femtoliters (fL) for adults. A normozytäre state signifies that the red blood cells are of standard size, which is crucial for their function in oxygen transport. While normozytäre status indicates normal size, it does not rule out all potential blood disorders, as other factors like hemoglobin content (MCH) and hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) also need to be considered, along with the overall red blood cell count.
